Overview
In the center of the village is the Church of Saint Amvrosius, Bishop of Mediolana. This church is a real jewel for the community. It is a magnificent building from an architectural point of view and was built in the 14th century. The church is small in size but very well-kept and beautiful. It is a single-aisle basilica with a gable roof. The whole structure is made of small stones which give it a special beauty. The church is supported externally by eight large colonnaded columns, which project from the two side walls. The interior of the temple is lit from the three entrances and from a later window. Above the western entrance of the church is a small-sized window that gives some light to the women's room of the church. To the left of the western entrance, there is a small opening that is used for the placement of the icon of St. Amvrosius and other icons during the procession that takes place on major feasts. Above this opening, there is a relevant inscription that mentions the donor of this work " DONATION DESPOINOUS OIKONOMOU". There is also the relevant date (1838) of the construction of this part of the church which is on a small arched stone. At the north entrance of the church and above it there is an opening in which some information about the time of construction of the church was written. Today all that can be discerned after careful observation are the numbers 3 and 0. In the eastern part of the church and at the left edge is the beautiful bell tower which is built into the north-eastern wall. It is also stone-built and is located just above the roof of the church. It has a single bell above.
